On May 22, 2026, a working meeting of the universities that are members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) University in the Republic of Tajikistan was held at the Tajik State Pedagogical University named after Sadriddin Ayni.

The meeting was opened by the National Coordinator of the SCO University in the Republic of Tajikistan, Chairman of the Council of Rectors of Higher Educational Institutions of the Republic of Tajikistan, and Rector of the Tajik State University of Commerce, Nazarzoda Khayrullo Kholnazar, who expressed his views on the pressing issues related to the activities of the SCO University in the Republic of Tajikistan.

Rectors and representatives of higher professional educational institutions of the Republic of Tajikistan that are members of the SCO University participated in and addressed the meeting.

During the meeting, issues related to the implementation of the decisions of the second meeting of the Coordination Council of the SCO University, the execution of the documents adopted at the ninth meeting of the Ministers of Education of the SCO member states, the development of joint educational programs, the strengthening of international cooperation, the expansion of academic exchanges among students and faculty members, as well as the improvement of the activities of national and international expert groups were discussed.

The meeting also addressed matters concerning the preparation of the SCO University activity plan in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2026, the organization of meetings of the Council of Rectors, strengthening cooperation with universities of SCO member states, advancing the digitalization of the education sector, and establishing a unified educational space.

The participants presented specific proposals on expanding scientific and research cooperation, developing joint educational programs, promoting dual-degree programs, and enhancing the position of higher educational institutions of the Republic of Tajikistan in the international educational arena.

At the conclusion of the meeting, it was emphasized that the development of cooperation within the framework of the SCO University is of great importance for strengthening scientific and educational ties, training highly qualified specialists, and expanding the international integration of higher educational institutions of the Republic of Tajikistan.
