From 1 to 3 July 2026, the city of Samarkand, Republic of Uzbekistan, hosted the international training program "Climate Literacy Training for Heritage Professionals." The event was organized by the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) with the support of the ALIPH Foundation (Alliance for the Protection of Heritage in Conflict Areas).

More than 100 heritage professionals from different countries applied to participate in the program. Following a competitive selection process, only 15 participants were chosen.

It is a matter of great pride that Faridun Kenjazoda, Director of the Museum of the Tajik State Pedagogical University named after Sadriddin Ayni, was selected to represent the Republic of Tajikistan.

During the training, participants explored the impact of climate change on cultural heritage, discussed strategies for adapting the management of historical and cultural sites to climate-related risks, examined international best practices, and strengthened professional cooperation with experts from around the world.

Founded in 1965, ICOMOS is one of the world's leading international organizations dedicated to the conservation and protection of cultural heritage. Today, it brings together more than 12,000 members from over 130 countries and serves as an advisory body to UNESCO on matters related to the protection of World Heritage.

The participation of the university's representative in this prestigious international training program reflects both the recognition of his professional expertise and the significant contribution of the Tajik State Pedagogical University named after Sadriddin Ayni to the preservation of cultural heritage. It also promotes the expansion of international cooperation and enhances the professional capacity of specialists in the field.
